John 1:45-49

I was reading through John 1 today, and ran across this passage:

Jesus Calls Philip and Nathanael

The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, "Follow me."
Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida.

Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." "Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," said Philip.

When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, "Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is nothing false."

"How do you know me?" Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you."

Then Nathanael declared, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel."

This is an really cool passage. I heard one of my favorite preachers Erwin McManus preach on this recently, and he made a great point. In this passage, Nathanael had questions about Jesus, who he was, where he was from, whether or not he was God, but when Nate finally encountered Christ, all those questions didn't matter so much anymore.

So here is the question:
How are you helping people encounter Christ?
What are you doing to get them to a place where they can overcome their questions?
Are people encounter Christ through you or do they come away with more questions that get in the way?

Movement...

I don't know how many people actually read this, but I think this is important to say: Movement is good. Movement is what makes us feel alive, what wakes us up in the morning, what motivates us to continue. It is easier to keep moving than to start moving. I am more likely to take a step after I have taken one, than if I haven't started walking yet. To be honest with you... we need more movement. Now I'm not talking about dancing or waving our hands during worship, I'm talking about pursuing Christ, moving with Him. We had a student accept Christ last night, THAT is movement. We have had students going forward to pray for revival, THAT is movement. I look around at the potential we have, and I KNOW we can move mountains, Christ tells us so. We just need to MOVE. You have a chance to move this week. You need to move and help make this renovation happen. Where is the excitement from you? the commitment? the sacrifice to get this done? If we can show the church that we are committed to doing what it takes, to giving what it takes, then they will get behind us and help, but we have to be moving first. We need to be willing to give. Willing to give from our paychecks, our allowance, our savings, our hearts to make this thing happen. Will you help us move towards this goal? How?
What can I do to get us moving?

I will be talking more about this verse in the posts to come. Be sure to check back here often for devotionals, random thoughts, cool links, and the latest news. I love you guys, and am so blessed to be here working with you. Be sure to come back now, ya hear.
